Your emotional wellbeing
Anxiety and depression
Having a kidney transplant is an emotional and life-changing event and can be overwhelming. Your wellbeing will be assessed in your check-up clinics, but please do open up and discuss with your transplant team how you feel.
Where you can get help
There are many ways you can get help. In the renal department we have a team of counsellors who can help you.
If you think counselling sessions are not the best for you and you would like to have psychological support, you can self-refer to the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services.
You can also ask for help directly to your GP or transplant team.
