Follow-up care for living donors

Your first post-operative appointment will take place in the Live Donor Clinic at Hammersmith Hospital approximately 14 days following your discharge from hospital. This is to check your recovery is going well, the wound is healing and your kidney function is not adversely affected

For donors in the UK:

Subsequent Donor Follow-Up Appointments

• 6 – 8 weeks post operation 
• 3 months
• 6 Months
• Annual review from then on

For donors abroad

• Second appointment will be prior to you returning to your home country
• A summary will be given for you to take back for your local healthcare team (GP or hospital)

We suggest you make local arrangements to be seen as follows:

• 3 months post operatively
• 6 months post operatively
