Our pathology service is one of the largest and most comprehensive in the UK, offering a wide range of diagnostic and clinical support services to GPs across London, as well as to other NHS institutions and private organisations.
Our pathology laboratories are situated across St Mary’s and Hammersmith hospitals, but concentrated at Charing Cross Hospital, which houses an automated laboratory, a centralised microbiology laboratory, specialist biochemistry services, a tumour marker laboratory and toxicology department.
Over 70 consultant pathologists provide extensive clinical and interpretative advice. More than 500 clinical and biomedical scientists plus additional support staff provide analytical, interpretive and advisory services across our network of laboratories. Many of our laboratories operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and clinical or scientific advice is available at all times. For further information view our pathology services website.
