Maternity service monthly babies and birth statistics

Every month, our maternity team share an overview of the babies and births in our maternity service. The statistics show information about the types of births we had in our maternity units at St Mary’s Hospital and Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital, including:

• The number of babies born at each site
• The lightest and heaviest baby
• The percentage of people giving birth in the labour ward, birth centre and at home
• The statistics are published as a way of celebrating our dedicated staff and the incredible parents that are supported by our teams.

We publish these statistics to celebrate the incredible families who come to us for care, and to share how we support our expecting parents’ choices in pregnancy and birth.

After gathering the data, we take some time to validate it. This information is for May 2022. The next animation we will share will be in  June 2022.
