Movement disorders patient information
Find out what to expect when you come to hospital for your movement disorders appointment.
Before your appointment
When you come to hospital for your initial appointment, please bring along any current prescriptions and any visual, hearing and walking aids you use. If communication is troublesome a carer and/or interpreter should also attend.
During your appointment
At your initial outpatient appointment you will see a consultant neurologist with a specialist interest in movement disorders. The consultant will ask a lot of questions, and will take a full history.
The consultant will also review all your medications and conduct a thorough examination before discussing their thoughts with you.
After your appointment
Depending on the outcome of the appointment you may need further investigations and/or treatment and follow up.
On occasion, patients are electively admitted to the neurology ward at Charing Cross Hospital either as a day case or longer to facilitate their further management.
