Find out what to expect when you come to hospital for your appointment.

Before your appointment

You can expect to receive your appointment within eighteen weeks of referral. Please remember to bring a list of your current medications and the results of any previous investigations to the clinic if possible. 

During your appointment

Please note that we are a teaching hospital, so medical students may be present for some appointments. If you do not wish to have them in the room please let the nurse or doctor know. 

During the video consultation, the clinician will go through your family history including medical and obstetrics history. They will also inform you of the investigations and treatments available to you.

After your appointment

The administrative team will contact you via email/telephone to advise of date and time of your ultrasound scan and blood test appointment. This is usually within six weeks of your initial video consultation and will be a face-to-face visit to the hospital. A follow–up video appointment will also be scheduled to discuss the results of your investigations.

Investigations normally take approximately two hours to complete.
