Transferring mandatory core skills topics between NHS organisations can save you a lot of time renewing the training for a new NHS employer.

We aim to make this process as straightforward as possible. Below, you will find helpful information to guide you through the process, whether you are:

  • A new starter - find out how to transfer your training from your previous NHS employer
  • A leaver - learn how to ensure your training record is transferred to your next NHS role
  • Another NHS Trust - discover the types of evidence that can be generated by our system

Organisations we accept training from

We accept training from the following organisations:

  • NHS Trusts
  • Integrated Care Boards (ICBs)
  • Community Interest Companies (CICs)
  • Commissioning Support Units (CSUs)
  • E-learning for healthcare

What prior training do we accept?

The list of subjects where prior training is accepted can be found in A new starter guide.

How do we accept prior training?

Prior training will be accepted if:

  1. It is received via a transfer of data from your previous employer through ESR (Electronic Staff Record), or
  2. It is evidenced by a certificate of completion that you provide, which can be authenticated with your previous employer.

Please refer to the A new starter guide above for more details.

What is the acceptable period for prior learning?

Evidence of prior learning will be accepted if it is within the allowable time period set out by the Trust. Please refer to the A new starter guide above for more details.

Further mandatory training

You will be required to complete local induction together with your line manager. Additionally, depending on your role you may be required to complete locally mandated training (core clinical skills).
