Physiotherapy

Imperial College Healthcare's physiotherapy department offers cutting edge education and training with mentoring from senior staff.

Our physiotherapy department works closely with other therapy departments at the Trust to provide staff training and education. We provide essential training so our staff can carry out their roles safely and competently. We also support personal and professional development so our staff can progress their careers and develop their skills at the same time.

Undergraduate / pre-registration

We provide practice learning placements to pre-registration physiotherapy students from Brunel, King’s College, St George's and London South Bank Universities. All of our clinical staff contribute to the students’ learning experience. Due to the shortfall of placements within London, we are currently unable to offer elective placements for pre-registration students.

Students are required to complete information governance / data security awareness training (available as an e-learning package) before their placement.

Postgraduate

We provide post-qualification education for master's students from universities nationally and PhD supervision for students from Imperial College, London. If your enquiry is about post qualification elective clinical placements, please contact the relevant service area.

The physiotherapy department often runs external courses for physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals.

Preceptorship

We support all newly qualified occupational therapists in their transition from student to qualified practitioner through a preceptorship. This gives you a framework for competencies at six and 12 months. Preceptorship will also help you develop clinical skills and professional behaviours while giving you time to reflect on your practice.

Education support

We’re closely linked to Imperial College London and this means that we have access to the excellent library services offered at the college. There’s a library on each of the three main Trust sites and all staff can become members.
