Press office
The press office handles all media enquiries and should be the first point of contact for journalists.
The press office handles all external media relations on behalf of the Trust, and media queries should always be addressed to the press office in the first instance.
Trust staff members, especially clinicians, are very busy and should not be contacted directly. The press office is here to help and we aim to respond quickly and openly to all reasonable requests.
How to contact us
If you have a media enquiry please contact the press office directly on 020 3312 1475. We are open from 9.00 to 17.00 Monday to Friday.
Or you can email: imperial.press.office@nhs.net
Out-of-hours
If you are calling out of hours, please contact the hospital switchboard on 020 3311 3311 and ask the operator for the on-call press officer. Non-urgent queries will be dealt with within office hours.
What we do
Our media team is here to:
- Respond to media enquiries, including requests for comment, statements or interviews
- Facilitate filming requests if appropriate (see below for further guidance)
- Source expert spokespeople for interview
- Source patient case studies as appropriate
- Provide facts and figures about the work of the Trust
Filming and photography requests
If you would like to film or take photographs at one of our hospitals you must obtain permission from our press office. This is in order to protect patient confidentiality.
We receive large volumes of requests for documentary and location filming. We endeavour to facilitate such requests when they relate specifically to the work of the Trust. Due to overwhelming demand, we are regretfully not able to accommodate requests for general location filming or student filming.
To request to film or take photographs at the Trust, please email a member of the press office outlining the purpose of the filming/photography, the nature of the production, your timescales, and the specific details of who and what you hope to film/photograph.
Filming and photography are subject to strict protocols including patient consent and confidentiality, and infection prevention and control procedures.
Anyone who is found filming or taking photographs at our hospitals without permission will be asked to leave immediately, and footage and photographs may be confiscated.
Confidentiality
We have a duty of confidentiality to all our patients and will never confirm or deny whether someone is a patient.
Confirmation that an individual is under our care and any information about their condition or status will only be released to the media if we are given written consent from the individual concerned or their next of kin.
The only exception to this is where a patient, or someone acting on his or her behalf, invites the media to report on their treatment. When the media coverage contains inaccuracies, or unfair criticism, we may respond to correct misleading reports.
