Industrial action planned for January and February 2023
Our absolute priority is to ensure we provide safe care to all our patients during any industrial action. Our A&E departments and inpatient wards will be open as usual.
But we will need to reschedule some appointments and planned care, or where possible, move to virtual appointments. If we need to reschedule your appointment, we will contact you directly to tell you and to arrange a new appointment.
Planned industrial action for January and February 2023 includes:
- Unison strike action involving London Ambulance Service staff, 23 January: existing plans remain in place to ensure the safe running of our services on this day.
- Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) strike action, 26 January: the CSP have confirmed that some therapies support will be in place to ensure that emergency respiratory care can continue. We hope to be able to provide a wider range of time-critical care too though we will need to postpone other appointments
- Rail strike action, 1 and 3 February: we expect our services will run as normal, but we recommend you plan transport in advance to ensure you can make it to your appointment
- Strike action involving all schools in England, 1 February: we expect our services will run as normal, but if you have an appointment, please be sure to confirm your childcare arrangements
- Royal College of Nursing (RCN) strike action, 6 and 7 February: we’re reviewing our existing plans with local RCN representatives to ensure that we can continue to provide emergency care to every patient that needs it. Our A&E departments and inpatient wards will be open as usual. We hope to be able to provide a wider range of time critical care too though we will need to postpone other appointments and surgery.
How will I know if my appointment or surgery is going ahead?
- If you are not contacted by us, please come to your appointment as planned.
- If you are unsure, please call the number on your appointment letter or email appointments@imperial.nhs.uk or call 020 3313 5000.
- If your appointment or surgery does need to be postponed, we will reschedule it for as soon as possible.
