Background

Mr Sami F Hamid is a locum consultant urologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, based at Charing Cross Hospital in London. Appointed in 2023, he has commenced his first consultant position after completing his higher surgical training in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Mr Hamid possesses extensive experience in both open and endoscopic surgical techniques, with a particular focus on functional and reconstructive urology as well as andrology. His clinical practice encompasses a broad range of conditions, including recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), lower urinary tract symptoms, incontinence, stricture disease, endometriosis, infertility, erectile dysfunction (ED), and germ cell tumours. He is also dedicated to providing care for patients managing urinary complications related to cancer treatment, including those resulting from radiotherapy.

Known for his approachable demeanour and exemplary bedside manner, Mr Hamid is a strong advocate for multidisciplinary approaches to patient management, particularly for individuals with complex healthcare needs. He actively participates in multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) focusing on germ cell tumours, endometriosis, stricture disease, and urodynamics.

His procedural expertise includes sacral neuromodulation, minimally invasive treatments for lower urinary tract symptoms, incontinence procedures, urinary diversion, ureteric reimplantation, general andrology, and sperm retrieval.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Mr Hamid is currently serving as a principal Investigator for an upcoming research study on recurrent urinary tract infections, demonstrating his commitment to advancing the field through research and innovation.
