Background
Dr Marius Venter is a consultant in stroke medicine, geriatric medicine and general internal medicine at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He is based at both Charing Cross and St Mary's hospitals.
He undertook his undergraduate studies and completed a master's degree in general internal medicine at Pretoria University in South Africa. He then advanced his postgraduate training in stroke and geriatric medicine in London.
His work in the prestigious hyper acute stroke unit includes a seven-day thrombolysis service and access to advanced neuroimaging and an on-site thrombectomy service. In addition to presenting his work at international conferences, he has a strong commitment to teaching and is the lead for undergraduate training in stroke medicine at the Trust.
He is currently participating in several large international stroke trials to provide his patients with the latest advances in stroke medicine.
His clinical and research interests are: management of hyper-acute and acute strokes, TIAs, stroke rehabilitation and prevention, and cardiovascular disease risk management.
