Dr Katherine Papanikolaou is a specialist doctor in fetal medicine at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital.
Dr Papanikolaou specialises in complex fetal medicine performed at a Level 3 tertiary regional unit. She is experienced in obstetric ultrasound imaging. This includes the management of routine obstetric scanning from dating including nuchal translucency and private NIPT, cervical length screening, early anomaly scanning and mid-trimester anomaly review as well as 2D/3D growth scans. This includes twins and higher order.
In addition, she routinely performs prenatal invasive testing (amniocentesis and CVS) as well as more complex interventional procedures. Her clinical expertise areas are in 2D/3D Neurosonography and diagnosis of placenta spectrum disorder.
Dr Katherine Papanikolaou completed her training in obstetrics and gynaecology in University Hospital of Larisa, Greece in 2014. Following that, she has successfully completed two-year fellowship in fetal medicine at King’s College Hospital under the supervision of professor Kypros Nicolaides and was awarded with the Diploma in Fetal Medicine.
Dr Papanikolaou has extensive experience in working with obstetric and neonatal consultant colleagues in formulating personalised management and birth plans. This extends to working within the North West London Network. She works closely with paediatric neurologists to diagnose and counsel complex fetal neurological abnormalities as well as with the gynaecology surgeons to plan care.
