Background

Mr Ali Taghi graduated from Baghdad Medical School in 1996. He completed higher surgical training in Iraq in 2003. Upon coming to the UK, he undertook a further period of surgical training, predominantly in central London teaching hospitals. He completed two fellowships in advanced ENT surgery, a head and neck surgery fellowship at the Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust in 2012, and another advanced fellowship in paediatric ENT surgery and airway in Canada in 2014.  He also completed a visiting fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center shadowing the world leaders in paediatric airway surgery (Professor Cotton and Professor Rutter). He was appointed as consultant ENT head and neck surgeon at St Mary’s Hospital in December 2015. His specialist interest is in paediatric airway and rhinology including advanced FESS and rhinoplasty.

Research & publications

Mr Taghi has a strong research background. He completed several research projects in head and neck surgery, simulation in surgical training and rhinology. His recent research area is in paediatric sleep disorder breathing and its management. He has published more than 25 articles and abstracts.
