Kiran Dhillon

Background

Mr Alessandro Viviano is a consultant cardiac surgeon and leading aortic surgeon at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Hammersmith Hospital. With nearly two decades in cardiac surgery and over three years in his current role, he specializes in adult cardiac and complex aortic procedures. He also serves as the clinical governance lead for cardiac surgery at Imperial College London, emphasizing high standards of patient care.

Mr Viviano graduated from the University of Rome in 2007. He completed his specialization in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Rome and the London Deanery, training at institutions including Imperial College London, the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Guy's Hospital, and St George’s Hospital. He further advanced his expertise with a fellowship at Waikato Hospital in New Zealand and earned an MD Res from St George's University of London and King's College London.

At Imperial College, Mr Viviano has been instrumental in developing services for aortic dissection and complex aortic surgery. He established the aortovascular multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to ensure comprehensive patient care and is working towards creating a specialized aortovascular clinic and an advanced aortic fellowship.

Committed to education, Mr Viviano mentors upcoming cardiothoracic surgeons within the London Deanery. He has numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented nationally and internationally, reflecting his dedication to advancing the field.
