The Trust is part of the Imperial College Academic Health Science Centre, a partnership between Imperial College London, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and two other London NHS trusts, which brings together multi-disciplinary research and education with NHS resources and clinical experience to advance discovery and innovation in healthcare. The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Imperial Biomedical Research Centre, a translational research partnership with Imperial College that provides infrastructure to conduct early-stage experimental medicine and exploit the scientific power of Imperial College to provide breakthroughs in the clinical setting, has also recently been renewed with £95m of investment.
Commenting on the promotions, chief executive Professor Tim Orchard said: “We pride ourselves on the fact that patients at our Trust receive cutting edge treatments and evidence-based care from the doctors, nurses and therapists who are themselves leading research in their field.
“To see so many of our clinical colleagues receive academic promotions this year, further highlights how important the partnership between clinical care and academic excellence really is – something we will continue to prioritise through partnerships such as our recently renewed NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre and vision for Paddington Life Sciences.
"Medical innovation benefits hugely from clinical experience and so many of our staff across all our hospitals provide a significant contribution to medical science, always keeping our patients at the forefront.”
