London Ambulance Service industrial action on Wednesday 21 December
London Ambulance Service staff will go on strike on Wednesday 21 December from 12.00pm - 11.59pm. This may also lead to further disruption the following day.
During this period, ambulances will be prioritised for those most in need and, in general, ambulances may take longer to reach patients than usual.
All our services, including maternity services, will be running as normal, though there may be longer than normal waits in our emergency departments.
Where the situation is not life-threatening, alternative support will be available through NHS111 online or through NHS 111, and where possible, London Ambulance Service has advised that you arrange alternative transport to hospital.
If you are planning a homebirth around this time, your midwife will speak to you about what this means for your care.
If you have any worries, or think you’re in labour, please contact our maternity helpline for advice as early as possible on 020 3312 6135. Phone us right away if:
- You start to have contractions
- Your waters break
- You notice any bleeding
- You notice any changes in your baby's movement
- Anything else which causes you any worry or concern
